Mt Barker presentations last Friday evening was well attended. Gary Leverington was MC for the evening, whose first duty of the night was to acknowledge club president Malcolm Williams 60th birthday. HFL President Glen “Gus” Sickerdick also present with committee / director Glen Thomson and their wives. Glen presented Malcolm Williams with Mortgage choice shield and also presented Robin “Pud” Crompton with HFL Goal Umpire of the Year award.

Reserve Grade
Coach Matt Harford presented:

  • Scott Tidemann awarded Best and fairestreserves
  • Runner Up – Ruckman Simon Williams
  • Leading Goalkicker Andrew McKinnon
  • Best Team Man – Todd Billing
  • Coaches Trophy – Mike Andruszkiewicz a.k.a. Mike A to Z

Malcolm Williams then announced Life membership award to Simon Nunan, who has the credentials of:
240 A grade games and one B grade game since 1999 (13 seasons)
40 senior colts and 21 junior colts games before venturing to try his luck at Sturt (SANFL)
Awarded the Mail Medal twice and club best and fairest on 5 occasions. (Now 6 – read further on) Simon Nunan responded, interestingly saying that he and his brother Greg were strongly connected to Onka Valley FC, they had moved to Mt Barker when they were colts aged and had not received any pre season info from Onkas and decided to play for the local Barkeroos. Nunan also indicated that had the Roos failed this year, it may well have been his last season. As recent success as Premiership Captain now has spurred him on for another season or two.

Steve Samuels conducted the Senior Presentation (A grade). Steve thanked all the support staff and committee for their tireless efforts. Also greatly appreciated the support of the many sponsors. Steve touched on the potential
for the current playing group to go to bigger and better things as 5 of the 21 Premiership players were under 21 years of age and there was a lot to look forward to.
